Pete Wilson

Pete Wilson is listed in “Best Lawyers UK” for 2023 and 2024, and has also been recognised as a “Key Lawyer” and described as a “rising star” in the Legal 500’s “Financial Services: Contentious” category in 2023.  Pete is the co-author of the Legal 500’s UK Bribery and Corruption Comparative Guide (2021 and 2023)

Pete represents banks and executives in regulatory enquiries, investigations and enforcement actions.  He has particular expertise engaging with the FCA, PRA and BoE, as well as various associated regulatory and prosecutorial bodies including, the US DoJ, OFAC, FRB, OFSI, HMRC, NCA, police services and the UK security services.

Pete regularly represents banks on issues and allegations related to FCA and PRA supervision, FSMA and Listing Rules compliance, money laundering, corruption, market abuse, systems and controls issues and whistleblower reports.  Pete routinely advises banks on notification obligations,  “Dear CEO” letters,  synthetic data testing requests, document production requests, authorisation issues, monitorships and skilled person reviews.  Pete spent three years seconded to a world-leading bank, successfully representing it in US DoJ and FCA skilled-person reviews across numerous jurisdictions in the EMEA and Asia-Pacific regions.

Pete frequently represents individuals subject to investigation, enforcement and prosecution by regulators.  Pete has represented individuals within the banking industry subject to allegations of misconduct, bullying and nepotism along with other forms of non-financial misconduct, in addition to allegations of market abuse, insider dealing, money laundering, fraud and being knowing concerned in breaches by their firm.  Pete has represented individuals at every stage of enforcement, from enquiries and voluntary interviews, through notices, final notices, RDC proceedings, the High Court Upper Tribunal and Parliamentary enquiries.
